Round 2 Records provides a comprehensive path for undiscovered artists to bring their music to fruition: writing, arranging, producing, recording and releasing music. We transform a musician into an artist, galvanizing industry relationships along their path.

Our Oakland, CA recording facilities provide for-hire music production, writing & arranging, recording & mastering, based on each artist’s own development and content. When you work with R2R, we offer support on the full scope of an artist's needs, not just the old paradigm of a recording studio for an hourly rate.

Music is the language of the soul. Whether you sing, play, write, listen, or feel music, it speaks. The language is unmistakable. Minor key? Sad. Dissonance? Resolution. Reggae rhythm? Love one another. In a time of powerful technologies accessible to the masses, records made in bedrooms, and easily released works, the deep need for art has never been more critical.

We never shut down an idea from another artist or writer without first hearing what it sounds like. Does it serve the song? Does it say something deeper, something more? Those are the tests of a musical idea, regardless of their source. Nothing ever beats a great song.

We also are partnering with Oakland public school district to give access to those who either don't have music programs, or have lost their musical opportunities due to Covid.  We see this as our way to give back, help the community, and maybe even help just one future star along their journey,

The world is chaotic. Let’s collaborate.

Michael Rosen is a songwriter, music producer, audio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and performer based in Oakland, CA. Michael writes and produces rock, pop, hip-hop and country. Good music has always been in his blood. Round 2 Records is the playground allowing Michael to capture sounds from the ether and transform them into song. In January 2020, Michael signed Bay Area rock band Thik to a production deal with Round 2 Records. They have been writing, arranging, and recording the band’s first EP, and will be streaming a series of performances late this summer in support of the release.

Michael grew up in Indiana, and moved to Los Angeles in 2006. In LA, he teamed up with longtime friend Brandon Sweeney of The Eeries (Interscope), working as their tour manager and sound engineer. In 2013, Michael received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law, with a focus in Entertainment Law. That same year, he set off on his first tour as a performer, with roots rock act Lonesome Locomotive. He has performed at High Sierra Music Festival, Hangtown Music Festival, Jerry Day, The Fillmore and Terrapin Crossroads. Along the way, he has supported some of his musical heroes including Del McCoury, Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), and Chris Robinson (Black Crowes).

At a 2018 open mic night in Marin County, Michael met then unreleased vocalist Jaime Cope, and began writing and producing pop, hip-hop and R&B songs. Soon, a friendly little writing project exploded into a fire for great songs and powerful productions. Less than two years later, Round 2 Records’ professional recording, production, and mastering facility was built in Oakland, as both an incubator for the rising talent Michael discovers, and as a fully functional facility serving artists in the Bay Area and beyond.
